SWCNTs/PEDOT:PSS-Modified Microelectrode Arrays for Dual-Mode Detection of Electrophysiological Signals and Dopamine Concentration in the Striatum under Isoflurane Anesthesia

Accurate detection of the degree isoflurane anesthesia during a surgery is important to avoid risk overdose timely. To address this challenge, four-shank implantable microelectrode array (MEA) was fabricated for synchronous real-time dual-mode signals [electrophysiological signal and dopamine (DA) concentration] in rat striatum. The SWCNTs/PEDOT:PSS nanocomposites were modified onto MEAs, which significantly improved electrical electrochemical performances MEAs. performance MEAs with low impedance (16.20 ± 1.68 kΩ) small phase delay (−27.76 0.82°) enabled detect spike firing high signal-to-noise ratio (> 3). oxidation potential (160 mV), limit (10 nM), sensitivity (217 pA/μM), wide linear range nM–72 μM) met specific requirements DA vivo. anesthetic effect mediated by inhibiting D2_SPNs (spiny projection neurons expressing D2-type receptor) broadband oscillation rhythm local field (LFP). Therefore, rate power LFP could reflect together. During anesthesia-induced death procedure, we found that electrophysiological activities release strongly inhibited, changes concentration provided more details regarding procedure. recording MEA method prediction fatal anesthesia.
